Main Event This Sunday: Spoon vs. Muscle Hamster

Spoon will have plenty to gobble up this Sunday...head-to-head with the Muscle Hamster.

The Falcons are headed to Tampa and Spoon must be healthy for this matchup as I am sure that he will primarily tasked with covering the Muscle Hamster Doug Martin.

Coach Greg Schiano picked this guy because if you look at him he looks and plays very similar to a running back that he had at Rutgers...anyone care to guess who that is? Ray Rice. Yes, the star running back for the Ravens was once a Heisman candidate that tore up the Big East in the three years that he was there.

The Tampa offense relies on Martin to set the tone and keep pressure off of Josh Freeman. We all saw what happened to him last year because Tampa did not have any semblance of a rushing attack. With the emergence of Doug Martin, Josh Freeman has become a much more effective passer. Just look at the numbers:

Doug Martin > 100 Total Yards = Josh Freeman Avg Passer Rating 108.46
Tampa Record: 6-1

Doug Martin < 100 Total Yards = Josh Freeman Avg Passer Rating 68.43
Tampa Record: 0-3

The Falcons' front four need to be able to eat up the blocking of Tampa's offensive line to allow Spoon to move as necessary. Spoon is the only one of the linebacker corps that possesses the speed to cover Martin.

Spoon must contain Martin if the Falcons want to be able to come back from Tampa with a victory...No Pressure Spoon! JK...all the pressure is on you!

Shut down the Muscle Hamster and you will be rewarded one of these, Spoon! (AP)

I would love to get some comments. Anyone?
