Falcons Contain the Muscle Hamster...

...And dare I say find the "Spoon" to victory? On Sunday, the Falcons got Spoon back and he his return was key to the victory. With him, the Dirty Birds were able to really hold down an offense that had truly been clicking on all cylinders.

By the numbers:
Bucs Avg Run Offense: 121.7 yds/gm
Sunday Total: 50 yds

PPG: 28.5
Sunday Total: 23 points

While the Falcons' overall performance against Martin was impressive, I need to give props to the secondary for keeping Vincent Jackson from going nuts on the field.

They also did not allow a TD through the air as my colleague said in his latest entry. The Bucs had to do things the hard way to get into the end-zone.

A stat that I thought would be better considering the impressive game that the Falcons had against Martin was the fact that they only ended up with 2 sacks. I really thought that if they were able to hold him down, then they might get at least 2 more sacks than they did. Pressure on the quarterback must begin to ramp up towards the end of the season.

Final Takeways:
Julio-Julio-Ju-li-oooo: Kid was sick, nasty! We really got to see him at his best against a pretty terrible Bucs secondary.
Quizz: I think that we are starting to see him come into his own now. He really works well with the offense that Dirk Koetter has put in place here in Atlanta. He runs screens quite well and runs on the edge very well. He reminds me of a smaller MJD. If we could just get the offensive line to open a few holes for him, I am sure that he could hit them much faster than Turner at this point.

Next up: Time to get off the snide against the Aints.

  1. I agree with pretty much everything you said. Not sure who you meant by MJD though. I definitely see Quizz as our new age Warrick Dunn. Love this blog.

  2. Maurice Jones-Drew or MoJo as some like to call him. Thanks for the support. Definitely comment on everything. We love feedback.
