10 & 1 and Julio & 'Quizz!

OK, count me in. I'm officially on the Jacquizz bandwagon. I think I'm ready for Jacquizz Rodgers to become our leading run option.
Good solid, if not stellar, division win today. D-BLOCK did its job on the Hamster, holding him to an average of 2.4 yards/carry and a total of 50 yards, although he scored both Bucs TDs. Our pass rush gave Freeman way too much time all day; he passed for over 250 but scored zero passing TDs.

And 2 Matt Bryant misses in one game? You won't see that much, and when the stakes are highest, like in OT games, there isn't another kicker I'd trust more....

But in the end, Julio and Jacquizz were just too much for the Bucs today. Julio had 6 receptions for 147 yards, including that great 80 yard score at the end of the 3rd quarter (Mattie Ice's longest TD pass).

Some highlights

But back to Quizz:

Just look at today's stat line:
Jacquizz Rodgers - 10 attempts 49 total yards (4.9 avg; 20 longest) and 1 TD
Michael Turner -    13 attempts 17 total yards (1.3 avg;   9 longest) and 1 TD

Hey look, they are both making a contribution, but my vote is that Quizz is a better option on 3rd and 5 than Turner, is as reliable a slot receiver as Snelling, and is a big time playmaker who deserves more touches. His only liability (his size) hasn't seemed to hurt us. He breaks as many tackles as the bigger guys.

Some last thoughts:
  • Third down efficiency (62% today) was respectable
  • Red zone efficiency is still suspect (50% today vs 67% for the Bucs). We just won't be able to beat NY, Chicago or Green Bay by kicking field goals.
  • More damage to Asante Samuel's bad shoulder. Not a good thing
  • In addition to Jacquizz' running game, he added 30 more yards in 2 pass receptions, and delivered a 43 yard kickoff return. Any questions?

10 and 1 Baby!!!
