I, like most of you, am hooked on NFLNet on cable. It just seems to be the TV-in-the-background all the time during the season. I've been noticing the growing presence of female reporters. At first, it just seemed like the network's attempt to attract and hold more male viewers. (...and it does work, BTW)
But the more I am exposed to them the more it is clear that this is not just a T&A play. Quite the contrary: these babes know their craft. They are absolutely as informed, knowledgeable and insightful as their male counterparts. I'm impressed. Here are 4 of my favorites:
Stacey Dales is a sideline and locker room reporter. Formerly a basketball star at the University of Oklahoma and with the WNBA Washington Mystics and Chicago Sky.
A legitimate jock, Stacey has been around sports her whole life. Knows her football!
Aditi Kinkhabwala is also a sideline reporter. Formerly a sports reporter for the Wall Street Journal and beat writer for the NY Giants.
Kimberly Jones is the sideline reporter that we seem to see the most of. She is a former Penn State sports journalists, locker room reporter for the NY Yankees and NY Giants.
Still writes the NFL column at the Newark Star-Ledger
Melissa Stark is the co-anchor on NFLNet. The former sideline reporter for Monday Night Football and anchor of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.
Babes on the Gridiron, and we ain't talking about cheerleaders!
Serious. Insightful. Personable. Hot. What's not to love???
