These Saints just lost their "Swag"...

And, Brees it isn't your division anymore...it's OURS! Apparently, Mr. Brees is not particularly good at backing up his talk. In his pre-game Saints chant "No Lie", Brees made the proclamation that "This is our division. We know it, and they know it." After that, he proceeded to throw 5 interceptions in the game. Quite the egg he laid after such a speech.

Yo, Brees, where is your "Swag" now?!?!

It has really been amazing watching this defense play this season. They may give up their fair share of yards, having averaged 352 total yds/game; however, they really stiffen when it really counts having only given up 19.1 pts/game which is good for 4th in the league. They already have 16 Ints for the season which is good for 3rd in the league and is just 3 short of the mark that they had last season.

I believe this to be a direct result from the coverage schemes that Coach Nolan has been implementing most notably against the better QBs in the league. He really has some of the best QBs guessing wrong a lot. The coverage schemes are disguised so well pre-snap. Nolan has been dropping some rather interesting people into coverage at times most notably Kroy Biermann who has seemed to thrive this year no matter where he has lined up.

Another big part of this particular win was the relative non-factor that Jimmy Graham was. His final numbers were 4 receptions for 59 yards and NO TDs. It is not a coincidence that this happened and Spoon was a part of the game. Spoon is a big part of the pass coverage of big TEs such as Graham. There has only been one time this season when the TE of the oppeonent has been a significant factor in the game when Spoon was in the lineup. Greg Olsen went for 89 yards in a TD in week 4.

In the end, it was great to see the Falcons get the proverbial monkey off their back. The offense had a tough night mostly because the Saints were not going to allow the Falcons to go over the top of them all night as they had two deep safeties dropped back just about the entire game. However, the defense stepped up huge and dominated a highly talented offense.

At this point, the fat lady is warming up on the Saints season and how sweet it is to put the first big nail in their coffin.

Mr. Samuel said it best, "Oh when the Saints go marchin' home!" for GOOD!

As always, Comments are welcome!

  1. Rofl@Brees It feels really good to be on the upside of the Division especially as our Arch-Rivals are falling flat on their asses. Saints, go home. You're drunk. RISE UP!
