Falcons clinch NFC South...

Time to lock up the Dome-Field AdvantageThis afternoon was quite profitable for your Dirty Birds. Not only did they clinch the NFC South with the Bucs losing to the Broncos this evening, but they got some help with their closest competition for home field advantage throughout the playoffs.

With Chicago and San Fran losing today, the Falcons have increased their strangle hold on the #1 seed in the NFC to 2 1/2 games with 4 left to play. Not to mention, the Falcons own a 7-1 NFC record which also is a 2 game lead over Chicago, San Fran, and Green Bay.

With respect to the remaining schedule, the Falcons have a pretty fortuitous ending to the season that should allow them to wrap up the #1 seed prior to the last game.

Looking at the schedules of Green Bay, Chicago and San Fran, I would think that Green Bay may actually over take San Fran for the #2 seed, but I cannot really see them getting close to the Falcons at this point.

Having said all this, the Falcons have a bunch of issues that they can focus on moving forward.

However, PRIORITY ONE: GET EVERYONE HEALTHY! Hint, Hint: Do not play Assante Samuel next week!

  1. It really is a shame that Optimus Grimes is injured. Just think of how destructive our defense would be if we had him. We would probably have at least 3 more picks. I agree though, we should definitely give our players the chance to get rested up. I don't know if they shouldn't play Samuel at all, but at least limit his playing time. RISE UP!
