Playoff prediction!!!

The guys on NFLNet this morning introduced a very interesting playoff bracket, based on where teams are today.

In their NFC bracket, Seattle, Green Bay, Chicago and NY all enter the wild card round. Atlanta and SF, of course get buys in that round. Seattle and NY emerge and move on.

The division race comes down to Atlanta vs Seattle at the Dome, and SF vs NY in SF. Their assessment is that SF ends the Giants' season, while the Falcons prevail and celebrate our first playoff win in the Matt Ryan era against Seattle.

But that game would take a significant physical toll on the Birds, hampering their performance versus San Fran in the champtionship game, also at the Dome. They predict the 49ers defense will ground the Falcons and usher San Francisco into the Super Bowl.

What do you think?

  1. This prediction is just that - a prediction. And, I'm not sure what they are basing this on. I believe the Falcons are truly destined to at least go to the Super Bowl - if not win it! These guys are way too good and want it really bad. Because of that drive and spirit - they will get it.

  2. I find this a little hard to believe for a couple of reasons:
    1) Seattle has played rather poorly on the road this season until recently. None of the teams that they have played have had significant passing attacks like the Falcons other than the Detroit Lions and they gave up 28 in that game. Detroit has a similar offense to the Falcons.
    2) As for the 49ers, I think the Falcons actually match up well with them mostly because of Spoon's speed and the defensive scheme that Nolan has presented versus mobile quarterbacks like Vick and RGIII earlier this season both of which the Falcons were able to knock out of the game.

    Just my two cents...
