Our Unsung Heroes...UPDATE!

Big boys up front clean up the mess!Update: Jeff Schultz from the AJC posted a very good article on the offensive line.

Our much maligned offensive line stepped up huge this past Sunday against one of the better defensive lines in the league.

Yes, I realize that they do not have as many sacks as in years past, but...the Giants are sitting in 3rd place in the league with 20 team INTs. Do not think for a second that this does not have anything to do with their defensive line. Not to mention, many of their best guys have been banged up this season including JPP. This D-line is still one of the NFLs elite and our o-line truly shut them out.

By the Numbers:

  • Sacks: 1
  • Hurries: 4
  • Knockdowns: 3
What does this all equal? NO INTs.

Clean Matt Ryan = Falcons Domination (Atlanta Falcons)

By the end of the game, Matt Ryan looked similar to the way that he started the game...not a smudge on him. He had all the time in the world to work when he was in the pocket. Even when there was pressure, Matt Ryan was able to step up into the pocket and avoid the rush.

The offense was so effective that it even had Tom Coughlin scared. Why else would he go for it on 4th down twice in the first half? Half-time score should have been 17-6.

Win not a surprise, but Shut-out definitely was...

I will be honest with everyone. I was not surprised by the win. I had the Falcons losing last week to the Panthers mostly because that game really did not mean much to them. It was a perfect "trap" game if you want to call it that. I really believed that they had been mentally preparing for the Giants for the past two weeks. The game that ended their season last year definitely left a bad taste in their mouths.

I did not see it being the game that it was, however. Not many could have predicted such a dominating performance as this game was over in the first half.

Time to get on a late season roll

With this win, the Falcons need to get on a late season roll to build momentum moving into the playoffs. They definitely have two teams coming up to help with that...IT IS TIME TO "FINISH THE JOB!"
