Michael Turner's stat line from last week's Saints game was interesting. He ran the ball 12 times for a gain of 13 total yards. Excuse me?
We're talking about a 244 pound load who runs in one direction only. He literally should be running through people. How can he possible gain just 13 yards in 12 attempts? I'll tell you why. Because in spite of his great mass, and the speed he can build to once in motion, Michael Turner is a tip-toe runner.
He should not have to worry about the O line opening up holes for him. He should be able to make his own holes. He should be able to "push the pile". But he just doesn't. Have we noticed how down his production has been since the departure of Ovie Mughelli? Without him, #33 seems ineffective.
So what now? It's clear that we need an improved ground game. Hey, I just heard that Reggie Bush is a free agent next year. Ya' think????
